2 Roles that can enter a grade — instructor (own groups), org admin (all)

A Grade Only the Right Instructor Can Enter, Only the Right Family Can See

BeeNet scopes grade entry to the instructor's own groups — an org admin can enter for any group, nobody else can enter at all. Parents and students get a view-only window into results, restricted to their own children or their own record, view-only in the mobile app once an instructor or admin has entered it.

What Makes This Different

Four specific, checkable mechanisms — not adjectives.

Entry Stops at the Group Line

An instructor can enter grades for the groups they teach — not any group in the organisation. An org admin can enter for all of them. There's no third path in.

Parents and Students Only Ever See Their Own

A parent's grade view is scoped to their own linked children. A student's view is scoped to their own record. Neither can browse a classmate's or another family's results.

Grade Boundaries Are Configured, Not Hardcoded

A dedicated grade-boundary API defines how raw scores map to the scale your organisation actually uses — instead of a fixed cutoff baked into the system.

A Real Admin Module to Review Entries

Grade review is a dedicated module in the admin portal built for an org admin to see what's been entered across the organisation.

What the Progress & Grades Module Actually Does

Built around who is allowed to enter a grade, who is allowed to see it, and how a raw score turns into something meaningful.

Instructor Entry, Scoped to Their Groups

An instructor enters grades only for the groups they're assigned to teach — no cross-group entry, by design.

Org Admin Entry, Across the Board

An org admin can enter grades for any group in the organisation, and reviews entries through a dedicated grade-review module in the admin portal.

Configurable Grade Boundaries

A dedicated boundary API defines how a raw score is interpreted — the cutoffs your organisation uses, not a fixed default baked into the module.

Parents See Their Own Children's Grades

A parent's mobile view is limited to grades entered for their own linked children — nothing broader.

Students See Their Own Record

A student's mobile view is limited to their own grades — view-only, the same as the parent side.

Real Mobile Screens, for Viewing

Parents and students have dedicated grade-viewing screens in the mobile app, scoped to their own children or their own record.

How It Works

1

A grade is entered, from the admin side

The instructor teaching that group — or an org admin, for any group — enters the grade through the admin portal.

2

The raw score is read against your boundaries

The organisation's configured grade boundaries determine how that score is interpreted, instead of a fixed scale nobody chose.

3

The right family sees it, and only that family

A parent sees it for their own linked children; a student sees it for themselves — view-only, in the mobile app.

4

The org admin can review what's been entered

A dedicated grade-review module in the admin portal gives an org admin visibility into entries across the organisation.

Why It Matters for a School

2
Roles that can enter a grade

Only an instructor (their own groups) or an org admin (any group) can enter a grade — nobody else has that door.

Own Only
What a parent or student can see

A parent's view stops at their own linked children; a student's view stops at their own record — never a classmate's.

Configurable
How a raw score becomes a result

Grade boundaries are set through a dedicated API for your organisation's scale, not a fixed default nobody agreed to.

Common Questions

Can a teacher enter grades from their phone?

Not today. Grade entry is desktop/admin-only — an instructor enters grades for their own groups through the admin portal, not the mobile app. What the mobile app gives instructors' families is grade viewing: parents and students see results there, view-only, once an instructor or admin has entered them.

Can an instructor enter grades for a group they don't teach?

No. Grade entry for an instructor is scoped to the groups they're actually assigned to. An org admin can enter for any group in the organisation; that broader access is admin-only.

Can a parent see grades for a child that isn't theirs?

No. A parent's grade view is restricted to their own linked children. A student's view is restricted to their own record. Neither can browse anyone else's results.

How does BeeNet decide what a raw score means — a pass, a letter grade, a percentage?

Through a dedicated grade-boundary configuration, not a fixed scale built into the module. Your organisation sets the boundaries a raw score is measured against.

Can we set up grading periods or terms in the admin portal?

Not yet — grade period and term configuration isn't available in the admin portal today. Grades are entered and viewed without that structuring layer for now.

Where can an org admin see what's been entered across the school?

There's a dedicated grade-review module in the admin portal built for exactly that — an org admin can see entries across the organisation, not just group by group.
